As time passed, Arthur Miller challenged Aristotle's tragic hero saying how he is no longer relevant in his essay, Tragedy & the Common Man. Miller is saying how heroes are not well-known and wealthy because they do NOT know about tragedy. Those who are heroes are the 0.1% of people born with indignity and the wrong postal code (poverty) and are fighting against the universe to fulfill their dream of becoming what they envisioned.
A Raisin in the Sun is a great example of a modern hero. Walter, a black male facing discrimination, knows the cruel and unfair life given to him. He envisions a life where he can get his son anything he desires, but the universe does not allow him to reach his goal. Walter's "friend," Willy, runs off with all the money, Walter's key to his dream. Despite having no ounce of hope for reaching that dream, Walter continues to fight desperately against the universe.
