About Me
My name is Absolom De Vera, and I am an engineering student at McMaster University. My goal in life is to make new discoveries, innovate ideas to improve everyday life, and maybe one day, make the world a better place. With these goals, I aspire to become a mechanical engineer.

I am currently in my third year as a mechanical engineering student. I enjoy playing sports and dancing to keep myself active. Also, I love taking photos, making photoshop art, and learning ways to tackle problems. Ultimately, these activities challenge me to think critically and creatively, which forces me to continue to learn, expand my skills, and, most importantly, discover my true potential.

What I do
Getting involved with your community is the best way to discover who you are as a person, share and learn new skills, and make new friends. Below are some of the volunteer and extracurricular activities I am a part of.
Kumon
As a Kumon tutor, I help students, ages 10-17, understand difficult concepts in Math and English. I have developed a passion for helping people because of the students I have taught. They have shown me that giving someone a little faith can motivate anyone to reach new heights. In other words, I was inspired by their persistence and work ethic, encouraging me to always give my 100% in whatever I am doing.

MAC Formula Electric
MAC Formula Electric is a Formula Electric Racing Team from McMaster University. Being a part of MAC Formula has helped me grow as a mechanical engineer, where I am constantly learning new techniques and honing my skills. I am part of the Manufacturing sub-team, where I help prepare a mould for the car chassis and work on other tasks that need to be fabricated.
VIE Division
VIE Division is a semi-professional open-style dance crew representing McMaster University. VIE Division is a space where I can release all my stress and take my mind off school. Being a part of VIE Division challenges me to quickly learn choreography, adapt to changes on the spot, and open my creativity to create choreography.

McMaster Catholic Chaplaincy

God always has a special place in my heart. Spending time with the McMaster Catholic Chaplaincy has helped me grow my faith. I help first years slowly adjust to their new chapter in life by welcoming them to a safe community where they, too, can strengthen their faith.
Accomplishments
I make mistakes and sometimes fail. However, it is these moments of frustration and failure where I learn the most. Below are my most proud achievements.
